The Name Jewel

The Name Jewel has been passed down from the 1800’s

Mrs. Elizabeth Jewel-Stringham came to America in the 1800’s and traveled across this beautiful Country.

I was borne Dinah Jewel Davis in Oklahoma.

My Father is half American Indian, his Mother is Choctaw, “Born on the Choctaw Reservation in Oklahoma” and his Father is Dutch.

My Mother is half American Indian. Her Father is Cherokee and Choctaw, “Born on the Choctaw Reservation in Oklahoma”

Funny, my Grand Mother from Father and my Grand Father from Mother were born on the same reservation just about the same time.

My Mother’s Mother is from Elizabeth Jewel, English, Irish and Welsh. I don’t know how or why Elizabeth Jewel went to Oklahoma, or even if she did, but one of her Daughters or a Great or even Great, Great Grand Sons went to Oklahoma and another went to Texas, Land, Oil. 100’s of acres and a Fish Cannery.

My Mother’s Mother grew up Rich, had Nanny Stella take care of her when she was little and was disowned for Marring an American Indian and having 10 children (2 died under the age of two). 8 sets of Grand Children and 3 or 4 Jewels in each generation, my Grand Mother’s Aunt, Cleo Jewel Cole, Corpus Christi, Tx.

Elizabeth Jewel went on and left her foot print along the West to Utah, where there still stands a little cottage with a stream running by and the name Stringham Homestead on the door.

We Jewels are made of strong stuff.

This is my Résume.

I love multi tasking or…it just might be ADD or ADHD or both.

Hello,

My name is Dinah Jewel, this is my Résume.

2001-2003

I was working at Global Travel selling World Cruses, I had been promoted to group cruses and that came along with an assistant and higher commission’s. After a while I was getting bored, so I started looking and decided to take a vacation and go to school. I became an “Insurance Agent” yea!:) and went to work with AFLAC. They had a big job coming up and I made $20K in 5 weeks and I know I helped a lot of people, I talk to them every now and then. WOW 20K. I went on and opened 17 of my own groups, won trips, luggage, trophies. And I got bored. I turned all the service work  over to a friend of mine. Now I still get 30% of new business and still get my residual income, Every Month AND I have an automatic savings account and stock. I make more monthly with AFLAC than I do with my MPLI, (Mortgage Protection Life Insurance) “go figure, “dauh, Real Estate Crash” that comes later…

I have always been a top producer, until I get bored, then I can’t seam to produce anything…

2004

I bought my first house in Jan. 04. I had good credit but no JOB, I had not opened any accounts with AFLAC or worked on anyone Else’s accounts (70%) for a while. In 6 weeks I had my first $1,200 payment and I had just started a new career. Mortgage Protection Life Insurance. Yea!!!

2005

I made my first (low) 6 figure income, just barely in 2004.  In July 2005 I re-habbed my first house, I then started Wholesaling, the Real Estate I found. If it is not obvious, I didn’t like re-habbing. (But, when the time comes, I will do It again.)

2007

I had a much higher 6 figure income for 2006.

In Aug. 2007, (Now this is big for me, knocked me to my knees.)

I lost 2 houses I had contracted and was 1 week away from closing. My Agent came to me and said, “The Investors are gone, the Money is gone. I don’t know what happened”.  Those 2 houses was a $60K loss for me. The next several months, I lost 4 houses I worked on. 4 houses, on the low end was $60K, up to, could have gotten? “Lost in Denial.”

I averaged $20-35K a house and plenty of equity left over for the Hard Money Lenders and the Investor and the end user, the Retail Buyers. I made sure, I did the right thing. ALWAYS. You can believe it or not. No body made as much as I did, but there was Equity, also if not, the Hard Money Lenders would not finance it. One time, with one of my houses, instead of evicting this single Mother I helped her buy the house she was renting and I only made $12,000 on that one, but “that is another story”.

I can, on my own do Short Sales, I have done many as a mater of fact, but I prefer faster money, Hence, Wholesaling. “That is another story.”

I have been looking at the houses on the market today and I would have, before, flipped homes for $100-$125k and now they are going for $35K-$60K. I was making that kind of commission, “Almost”.

I must say, I was in denial for a while.

2008

I didn’t make very much money in 2007, but I have started learning how to Market on line.  I joined every opportunity…that I got excited about. I whined when I got depressed and I laughed when I got out of it, but I did not give up. I might have pissed off a few people on the way, “and to them, I am so very Sorry. I vented the wrong way.”

I might have taken on too much too soon. “Ya Think!”

I went back to, LOL, Mortgage Protection Life Insurance; “What good was Mortgage Protection Life Insurance when the Real Estate Crashed! Tell me.” I was working 3 counties and pretty much breaking even. I tried Medicare and some other things as well as working on line. I thought about Medical for just a minute, but I did not go there.

I was looking for a way to get my income back so when it came time, I could get back into Investing in Real Estate. I should have continued to do Short Sales, but not only did I not like doing them, the cash investors were gone, one of the wholesale houses “hard money lenders” I worked with went under and one of their agents or bird dogs was left stranded in another state starting a branch for them . Now he is back and has the houses and wants me to find the Investors. “Trading places?”

2009

I started running out of money in 2009. Working here and there, I ran out of savings, I guess I did good. You know how they say you should have 6 months? I had over a year, but I was still not doing very well .

I have learned a lot and I am every where on line. After all, isn’t that what you are supposed to do? and again I might have pissed off a few people on the way, “and to them, I am so very, very Sorry, one more time, really.”

I have been looking at Real Estate again. Maybe Commercial…

Did you know, I have not paid my mortgage for 20 months? For Real, 20 Months, not only did I not have the money but the house is not worth what I paid.

I have been fighting CountryWide and just a couple of months ago Bank of America took over “And that my friends, is another story.” LOL

I am good at what I do… when I like it. I love multi tasking or, it just might be ADHD.

And here we are…………..

Yours in Success,

Dinah
